Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to have notarized a signature without appearing before a notary?

It is not possible. The individual who signs must be present before the notary. The notary also must physically examine the ID of the person, and ensure that the person is signing under his own will, which requires the presence of the notary.

Who is a Notary Public?

A Notary Public is a public servant commissioned by the State of California authorized to prove the authenticity of signatures and administer oaths or affirmations.

What types of documents can I notarize?

Although it's a common misconception, Notaries don't actually notarize documents. The Notary isn't notarizing the document itself, but is instead notarizing acknowledgments, oaths, signatures, affirmations and verifications.
